Put it to the vote!

Incidentally, I do have the list with the details of those Retrocentrics who have been good enough to forward them to me. What on earth shall I do with it now?

That's good. Maybe just hang on to it for the moment. A vote needs options and then a ballot paper - there is a poll option in the LL is there not?

I believe so, though I have never attempted to start one.

If I may make another suggestion:

There was a prototype of an emblem circulated, I think, by NJS. Shall we just have a Yea/Nay poll on it? Voting to be limited to those having "registered" with pvpatty by a certain date (plus our kind host, of course, and a few others deemed worthy by reason of their undisputed sartorial knowledge or practice of the sartorial arts or a demonstrated interest in this venture?).

Tie pattern/colours: Could we be shown the options once again and have a another poll (e.g., model 1, model 2, etc... -- voters to be the same group as above -- ?) .

You may notice that those are not rules, merely practical suggestions  ....

NJS – déjà vu!
I exchanged some ideas with Nicholas a while ago on the relation between substance and form of the Retro club and the conclusions are pretty much those exposed by each of us on page 9 of this thread.
The initial enthusiasm generated a lot of momentum, but it remained an amorphous bundle of dispaired ideas. If this state of imponderability is to be the very substance and nature of the club, we might as well call it the Peter Pan club. But I think a chaotic state of anomia has nothing retrocentric in it – on the contrary, I would argue that these are very modern “values” whose diffusion throughout contemporary society is often deplored in LL discussions. I am not supporting a fastidious organization, I often act on inspiration and I believe in the value of spontaneous actions as long as they are derived from a higher order of ideas.
This Retro club has the benefit of the LL umbrella (being born inside the LL) and could crystalize its ideas in relation to the LL vision, with its specific retrospective character. I see it is an excellent complement to the purpose of the LL, since elegant life is deeply rooted into history and draws its sap from tradition.

Whatever happened to this worthy initiative?
