Thanks to this forum, I am a recent convert and enthusiast of the double breasted suit. Since I am tall and slender, I should have been wearing them for the past 30 years, but have been doing so for only the last 4. Of course they work well for nonsummer suits, but last year I decided to commission one for summer and this year one more. Both suits are cut from Minnis 10 ounce fresco. I am happy to report that after two summers of normal mid-Atlantic temperatures, the double breasted suit seems fine to me for summer comfort. For really warm days I still prefer the single breasted, but for 9 out of 10 summer days the difference is almost negligible.

Rodes, glad to hear you found your calling. What button configuration do you use on your summer DB's?

Regards.

Dear Rodes,

nice to hear your DB experience - I confess that it was the LL that encouraged me, too  - and now, having made up 5 DBs and having 3 more in the works, I really wonder what I was thinking!

I see you used Minnis fresco - can I recommend using a Brisa next time? I made up both the PoW and the grey chalk stripe as DBs - they have become my favourite & most versatile summer suits by far. The cloth is breathing exceptionally well, and also draping very nicely.

Cheers, David

The benefit of DB in really hot and sticky weather is that nobody can see how awful your shirt looks.
