All,

I will be commissioning a pair of twills from my tailor next month and am leaning toward:

1. Forward pleats
2. Side buckles (do any members think side tabs with buttons would be better)
3. J pockets

Would appreciate any and all of your thoughts.

Thanks

Whatever you desire is what you should have made.

If, however, I were having a pair of cavalry twills made for myself, I'd have it flat-fronted: I prefer this old, more venerable style and think it looks better, too, especially in such a dense, heavy cloth. Buckled side tabs appeal to me, too. I don't know what "J" pockets are; I generally prefer on-seam trouser pockets but accept quarter-slanted ones for very casual wear.

If J pockets are similar to frog-mouth pockets, I'd go for regular pockets. As for side buckles vs. the Daks waistband, I think either would be fine - go for whichever you prefer.
