Dark blazer buttons
Has anyone found a good selection of dark (bronze, gun-metal, old coins, or perhaps enameled) blazer buttons? I'm feeling the need to make the blue Mistral blazer less like an orphaned suit jacket but don't want to go back to prep school.
I haven't used them myself, but it is often referred to Benson & Clegg

I now you asked for dark buttons, but how about light blonde horn.
If I had a length of the navy Mistral, which I unfortunately don't, I'd consider them. They are blazer-like, but not prep-school.

B&C are delightful to deal with.Frans wrote:I haven't used them myself, but it is often referred to Benson & Clegg

I sympathise with the aversion to a brighter option, but if you are looking at a trip to Piccadilly Arcade, dont rule out their brass offerings. I have a set of their brass buttons that have 'matured' to a deep honey: not 'dark' but worth a thought perhaps?
It's been a few years since I was there, but Tender Buttons in Manhattan had a nice selection of buttons suitable for blazers, including some antique chased silver ones that had a lovely patina.
I occasionally walk past "The Button Queen" shop off Wigmore St and glance through the window. They generally have a number of vintage sets of blazer buttons in black (not quite sure what they are made of) - so that was obviously a popular choice once upon a time. I have been tempted to try it myself but haven't as yet.
Oh, the shop is still there on East 62th. A true delight to visit and linger in its ¨library¨. Although it´s best suited if you’re looking for something truly uncommon.couch wrote:It's been a few years since I was there, but Tender Buttons in Manhattan had a nice selection of buttons suitable for blazers.
