The first sunny days of Spring make you want to open the car top and enjoy the clear sky, fresh air and bird songs, but it's still a bit chilly... what to do?

action back for comfort while driving (a piece of elastic fabric as tall as the bellows runs between them across the back under the lining, pulling the bellows closed when arms hang straight; it also adds a little cold protection to the wind-exposed upper back)

windproof mode: third button (with buttonhole cut in the lapel roll) actually closes, working in tandem with the collar tab to offer chest and neck protection. The collar is cut to ride lower in front (for comfort) when raised and buttoned up.

Costi, Fine job. I especially like the shaping and fit over the shoulders and back. Country clothes can be just as elegant as town.

That is a nice coat. I also like the mustard (?) trousers. What are they made of?

Could you illustrate the inside of the coat please - often neglected and it is interesting to see how tailors/cutters handle this as well as the thoughts of the bespeaker on chosen detail.

I'll gladly snap some pictures of the inside, DFR - it's my tailor's usual treatment of inner pockets, handkerchief pocket etc.

I'm going to be discussing a similar project next week. The only different thing I would do (apart from the action back, that I'm not sure about) is to have a fourth button between the boutonniere and the current top button. I'd put the fifth button on the back of the lapel to attach to the boutonniere, and then I'd lose the tab on the collar. Five equally spaced buttons, to morph into a 3-roll-2.5 when worn indoors or in more civilized weather.

Tremendous, as usual. Great work by your tailor, as usual. I like the design very much for its simplicity. It demonstrates yet again the virtues of this overlooked and misunderstood essential.

As for the pumpkin trousers, lets make some of that in the CC. I am in.
