Can buttons make or break an outfit?
My poor photography doesn't help the situation. I think the matte finish goes well with the cloth.
The first photograph shows olive buttons on grey cloth. Ugh..... It cannot be.
The second photograph shows grey buttons on blue cloth. This must be closer to reality. The combination is correct if a bit bland.
It depends on what you have in mind. If what you want is severity, you got it. Those grey buttons are ideal for a three piece SB suit worn with black shoes.
If you want something more relaxed and interesting, for a DB jacket or if you would like to wear the suit with dark brown shoes, then I would go for dark brown horn buttons instead.

What are you having made, Rrosals?
Costi,
The fabric is Minnis Rangoon 0128 and will be made into a single breasted suit much like the one a posted a while back.

OK, I'm sure the buttons won't break your suit

At present all of my navy (and one RAF blue) suits have blue plastic buttons, as I haven't the faintest idea where to get blue dyed horn from. I'd be grateful for any recommendations for an online source: I've come across these:
http://www.britexfabrics.com/buttons/ho ... utton.html
However, the supplier seems to be a general haberdasher rather than a trimmings supplier, so there might be a better option.
I tend to wear very dark navy, so buttons close to black seem to be in order?

I bought mine at Tender Buttons in NYC. Also saw them at the following website but have never purchased from them: http://www.theliningcompany.co.uk/catal ... Path=34_79
You can get navy dyed horn buttons from Kenton Trimmings in London as well: http://kentontrimmings.co.uk/BirdofSydney wrote:At present all of my navy (and one RAF blue) suits have blue plastic buttons, as I haven't the faintest idea where to get blue dyed horn from.
