Whilst not a tweed it is lovely and it's what I went for when ordering my polo coat. I did find a grey herringbone 26oz here: http://www.harristweedshop.com/tweed-lewis-index.html but it has Donegal style stubs and was a bit too rustic for what I wanted.rogiercreemers wrote:There is a wonderful cream/grey herringbone in the Dugdale collection.
Getting back to J of E, who is the US importer? Neither Jodek nor Isles lists them, as far as I could see. The J of E web site is no help. I've seen the photos on the Bookster site, and the 700 gram samples look really interesting.
Good. Johnstons of Elgin does heavy, "old thinking" tweed. We must encourage them. I have stocked up , always fearing the worst. WBill discontinued their 19oz. A true 19oz it was too. What a surprise, right ?... Johnstons... You must have your tailor call. They will not sell to the public.
I have just finished a Johnstons 16oz Caretakers coat, for a respectful customer, from a turn of the century pattern. I myself much prefer the 24oz and tried to push him that way but he held his ground. Good for him. It is a sound weave. They also have rich cashmere. Good for very warm suits. Good for walking to work in January. My customer loves them. Line the pant to below the knee front and back.

very handsome indeed, but at that weight and bulk I find it more suitable for an overcoat than for a jacket. Did you mean that by "city coat"?

Any way to get them to produce it again if we had enough interested parties, like a CC subscriptionold henry wrote:Johnstons has discontinued the 24oz.
