I gathered from different sources that this is wrongly attributed to Purcell in the video above. Apparently it is called the Prince of Denmark's March (a.k.a. Trumpet Voluntary) written by Jeremiah Clarke.

You remember Neil Young, don't you?

Hey Hey, My My

Hey hey, my my
Rock and roll can never die
There's more to the picture
Than meets the eye.
Hey hey, my my.

Out of the blue and into the black
You pay for this, but they give you that
And once you're gone, you can't come back
When you're out of the blue and into the black.

The king is gone but he's not forgotten
Is this the story of johnny rotten?
It's better to burn out 'cause rust never sleeps
The king is gone but he's not forgotten.

Hey hey, my my
Rock and roll can never die
There's more to the picture
Than meets the eye.

Richie Havens, 1969, at Woodstock:
"I Can't Make it Anymore"

Ever had the feeling?

I Can't Make It Anymore
Lyrics by Richie Havens

I get too low with no reason
You say its the moon or maybe the season
but something's not the same
and I won't let my mind believe
Baby, something's wrong
or the feelings gone
I can't make it anymore
I can't make it anymore

Lately I don't feel much like talking
instead of going home I just go out walking
and thinking too much and not longing for your touch
baby somethings changed
I don't feel the same
I can't make it anymore
I can't make it anymore

Don't know the reason why
but I just can't lie
when I feel this way
there are things that I must say
can't make it anymore
I can't make it anymore
I can't make it anymore
I can't make it anymore
Oh, anymore

Where did we go wrong?
Where do i belong?
Can we find out when
it all began?
Why i'm leaving you
Why our love aint true
I can't make it anymore
I can't make it anymore
No, no no no
no no, no no, no

My two cents (via Tom Waits): "Don't plant your bad days. They grow into weeks. The weeks grow into months. Before you know it you got yourself a bad year".

Etta James

"I'd Rather Go Blind"

http://youtu.be/YApNirMC9gM

Something told me it was over
when I saw you and her talking,
Something deep down in my soul said, ´Cry Girl´,
when I saw you and that girl, walking out.
I would rather, I would rather go blind boy,
Than to see you, walk away from me child, and all.
Ooooo So you see, I love you so much
That I don't want to watch you leave me baby,
Most of all, I just don't, I just don't want to be free no

I was just, I was just, I was just sitting here thinking
Of your kisses and your warm embrace, yeah,
When the reflection in the glass that I held to my lips now baby,
Revealed the tears that was on my face, yeah.
And baby, baby, I would rather be blind boy
Than to see you walk away, see you walk away from me, yeah
Baby, baby, baby, I'd rather be blind now

Comin' Back to Me

Happy New Year, all!

Comin' Back to Me Lyrics
(Marty Balin)

The summer had inhaled
And held its breath too long.
The winter looked the same,
As if it had never gone,
And through an open window,
Where no curtain hung,
I saw you, I saw you,
Coming back to me.

One begins to read between
The pages of a look.
The sound of sleepy music,
And suddenly, you're hooked.
I saw you, I saw you,
Coming back to me.

You came to stay and live my way,
Scatter my love like leaves in the wind.
You always say that you won't go away,
But I know what it always has been,
It always has been.

A transparent dream
Beneath an occasional sigh...
Most of the time,
I just let it go by.
Now I wish it hadn't begun.
I saw you, I saw you,
Coming back to me.

Strolling the hill,
Overlooking the shore,
I realize I've been here before.
The shadow in the mist
Could have been anyone--
I saw you, I saw you,
Coming back to me.

Small things like reasons
Are put in a jar.
Whatever happened to wishes,
Wished on a star?
Was it just something
That I made up for fun?
I saw you, I saw you,
Coming back to me.

Perfect for a winter day.
Steve Katz composed what may be BS&T best song ever in a brief moment in which David Clayton Thomas was not around (pizza break say some). He got to sing his own song in the recording session too.

Charles Aznavour
"Hier Encore"

With the passing of another year...seems like an appropriate song.

Hier Encore - Charles Aznavour

Hier encore
J'avais vingt ans
Je caressais le temps
Et jouais de la vie
Comme on joue de l'amour
Et je vivais la nuit
Sans compter sur mes jours
Qui fuyaient dans le temps

J'ai fait tant de projets
Qui sont restés en l'air
J'ai fondé tant d'espoirs
Qui se sont envolés
Que je reste perdu
Ne sachant où aller
Les yeux cherchant le ciel
Mais le cœur mis en terre

Hier encore
J'avais vingt ans
Je gaspillais le temps
En croyant l'arrêter
Et pour le retenir
Même le devancer
Je n'ai fait que courir
Et me suis essoufflé

Ignorant le passé
Conjuguant au futur
Je précédais de moi
Toute conversation
Et donnais mon avis
Que je voulais le bon
Pour critiquer le monde
Avec désinvolture

Hier encore
J'avais vingt ans
Mais j'ai perdu mon temps
A faire des folies
Qui ne me laissent au fond
Rien de vraiment précis
Que quelques rides au front
Et la peur de l'ennui

Car mes amours sont mortes
Avant que d'exister
Mes amis sont partis
Et ne reviendront pas
Par ma faute j'ai fait
Le vide autour de moi
Et j'ai gâché ma vie
Et mes jeunes années

Du meilleur et du pire
En jetant le meilleur
J'ai figé mes sourires
Et j'ai glacé mes pleurs
Où sont-ils à présent
A présent mes vingt ans ?
