Covert Coat in London

Where do you go to buy a RTW covert coat in London?

Everyone sells them ... from Tyrwhitt to Harvie , to New and Lingwood , House of Cashmere in Burlington arcade had a sale on them the other day .. Top range for me is Cordings and Crombie when it come to RTW .

I like the quality of Crombie coats - I bought a military style double breasted last year. I do not have one of their Covert coats however so cannot comment on them compared to the others.

Is there some history to the covert related to Crombies?

A covert coat seems rough and tumble, a country coat...is the country where you would wear it?

Any thoughts on getting a velvet collar? And the coat length...how far above the knee?

Uppercase, you might find this thread useful. Note particularly the Fellows illustration of a fawn covert coat in St James. Alden's post in this thread contains good advice on color, and note that the coat pictured is a few inches below the knee in length. Contemporary ones often come to the knee. I'd think choice of length would depend partly on how much (if any) sitting/driving you expect to do in the coat and how much occasional interference you're willing to accept in return for elegant sweep and a bit of extra warmth.
