Motown. You know you love these songs, like popcorn, can't get enough.
What woman would express these sentiments today?
Diana Ross: Ain't No Mountain High Enough
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEnKEcBvBvw
Ain`t No Mountain High Enough-katelyn Tarver Lyrics
If you need me, call me.
No matter where you are,
no matter how far.
Just call my name.
I'll be there in a hurry.
On that you can depend
and never worry.
You see, my love is alive
it's like a seed that only needs
the thought of you to grow.
So if you feel the need for company,
please, mij darling, let it be me.
I may not be asble to express
the depth of the love I feel for you,
but a writer put it very nicely.
When he was away from the one he loved,
he sat down and wrote these words:
No wind, no rain
nor winter's cold
can stop me, babe
if you're my goal
No wind, no rain
can stop me, babe
if you wanna go
I know, I know you must follow the sun
wherever it leads
but remember
if you should fall short of your desires
remember life holds for you one guarantee
you'll always have me
And if you should miss my love
one of these old days
if you should ever miss the arms
that used to hold you so close, or the lips
that used to touch you so tenderly
just remember what I told you
the day I set you free
Ain't no mountain high enough
Ain't no valley low enough
Ain't no river wild enough
To keep me from you.

i'm especially loving the early period. while they produced many great pieces after the mid-to-late sixties, that time they were unbeatable, one great song after another rolled out of this music factory. martha and the vandellas, smokey robinson and the miracles, the four tops, diana ross and the supremes, marvin gaye, the contours, mary wells, barrett strong, the temptations, little stevie wonder, just the tip of the iceberg. the list goes on and on, they where unstoppable.

I had no idea that Dusty Springfield's song, You Don't Have to Say You Love Me was originally sung and written in Italian by Pino Donaggio.

IO CHE NON VIVO (SENZA TE)
(Vito Pallavicini / Pino Donaggio)
Recorded by :
Little Tony; Emilio Pericolo.
Siamo Qui noi soli
Come ogni sera
Ma tu sei più triste
E io lo sò perchè
So che tu vuoi dirmi
Che non sei felice
Che io sto cambiando
E tu mi vuoi laciare
Io che non vivo più di un'ora senza te
Come posso stare una vita senza te
Sei mia,s ei mia, mai niente lo sai
Separarci un giorno potrai
Vieni Qui ascoltami
Che io ti voglio bene
Te ne prego fermati
Ancora insieme a me
Io che non vivo più di un'ora senza te
Come posso stare una vita senza te
Sei mia, sei mia,s ei mia
Io che non vivo più di un'ora senza te
Come posso stare una vita senza te
Sei mia, sei mia, sei mia.

When I said I needed you, you said you would always stay
It wasn't me who changed but you, and now you've gone away
Don't you see that now you've gone and I'm left here on my own
That I have to follow you and beg you to come home
CHORUS:
You don't have to say you love me, just be close at hand
You don't have to stay forever, I will understand
Believe me, believe me, I can't help but love you
But believe me, I'll never tie you down
Left alone with just a memory, life seems dead and so unreal
All that's left is loneliness, there's nothing left to feel
CHORUS:
You don't have to say you love me, just be close at hand
You don't have to stay forever, I will understand
Believe me, believe me....
You don't have to say you love me, just be close at hand
You don't have to stay forever, I will understand
Believe me, believe me, believe me

Also I realize that I have run out of incense which is necessary for the enjoyment of music.
If you are interested, I can recommend Resin on a Stick by Fred Soll in New Mexico. For a $1/day, you can't go wrong.
I particularly enjoy their Magical Copal:

thank you for posting this. This version for violin and piano was arranged by Joachim himself. There is a brilliant recording by Menuhin from 1936 on EMI. Here is a clip with Menuhin playing Dance no 5.

Gentlemen,
a little gem for piano enthusiasts: Enescu's Carillon Nocturne from Piano Suite No 3 op 18
http://youtu.be/6SHavezhSBw
There is one good recording on the market, with Romanian pianist Luiza Borac. From its linear notes:
"... striking evocation of monastery bells, with impure two-octave clusters of fifths, sixths and sevenths set pianissimo above the resounding melodic line."
cheers, David

It would be more fun anyway to meet in Athens...and btw, will you introduce me to your tailor in Athens?
When is the weather good?
Even better .. From April on the weather is good . Mr George only works with 2 or 3 clients from home now , but I'm sure he could make an exception . He is definitely the best tailor around and he enjoys working with clients that now the sartorial art.It would be great to meet you yialabis but I won't be in London this week.
