Dear Konstantinos,
Go to Bespoke Athens: http://www.bespoke.gr
The owner there is Vassilis Bourtsalas and he offers some of the best bespoke tailoring that I have seen. He knows everything about all things bespoke and is very passionate about it. You will be in good company at Bespoke Athens.
If you go there, please tell Vassilis I did send you.
All the best

Dear Konstantinos,
There is one other tailor that I know of but I don't have experience with him. A friend of mine who is cloth merchant used to do business with him until 2 years ago when he left as his only customer in Greece. So he stopped traveling to Greece then and this tailor stopped working with his fabrics. I don't know or he still does exist but his name is: Constantinos Barakos. Unfortunately I don't have any contact details from him but maybe you can do a bit of research to through his name and find out whether he is still in business and what his address is.
Vassilis from Bespoke Athens told me that there are really very, very few tailors left in Greece and that it is a craft which has kind of died out in Greece already. Very unfortunately, we have the same problem here in the Netherlands where I live. I think if we have 5 tailors left all over the country it would be very much already.
I hope that in other countries in Europe who still have quite a few tailors like Italy, UK, Austria, France, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Portugal and Spain this will continue in the future. And that people realize that this is a beautiful craft which should not disapear.

Dear TimMureau ,
It is real that there are very few tailors in Greece . I am searching for o a good tailor except from the Bespoke Athens , but i could not find any information . All the good tailors have been retired . Also i am interesting about tailors in Milan and Rome because it is easy for me to travel at one of these cities from Athens . I am interesting about less acknowledged tailors . Could you help me ?
Best regards ,
Konstantinos

Dear Konstantinos,
I had a suit made at a tailor in Milan which is: N.H Sartoria (http://nhsartoria.it)
I am very satisfied with the suit they made for me. They are very good, the owner is Federico Ceschi a Santa Croce. If you contact him tell him I did send you.
An Italian friend of mine is having all his suits made it this tailor in Rome: http://www.sartoriacelentano.it
He is always very satisfied, and I must say the work I have seen wearing him is indeed superb.
Another friend of mine who is from Düsseldorf and has a shirtcollection is always going in Rome to: http://www.sartoriacarbone.it
This friend of mine who is a cloth merchant knows a lot of tailors in Milan and Rome. So if you would like to know about more tailors in Milan and Rome send me a PM and I will ask my friend to send me all the addresses which I can then pass on to you.

Yiasou Konstantinos, go to Zisos Papou (PM for their contact information). This is a very old cloth merchant in which the owner and his two workers can provide you guidance as to whom to try and stay away from (keep in mind their bias based on personal preference or prior business dealings). Additionally, within 50 meters there are 2 other cloth merchants who might provide guidance...and of course cloth.
There are at least a dozen tailors you can try in Athens.
May I suggest you consider a separate tailor for the jacket and a trouser maker for your pants.
I have a tailor in Athens whom I can recommend for jackets (PM me), but would suggest you consider the recommendations of the folks at Zisos Papou regarding the trouser maker. Just make sure both jacket maker and trouser maker tailor the same side of the cloth.
Kali tixi (good luck)

It appears sadly Greece will dig itself into a deeper grave & stay stuck with the euro...cuz if it transitioned back to the drachma...Athens would be a bespoke lover's bargain
I can't believe I actually read this ...cuz if it transitioned back to the drachma...Athens would be a bespoke lover's bargain
Or that it was written?yialabis wrote:I can't believe I actually read this ...cuz if it transitioned back to the drachma...Athens would be a bespoke lover's bargain
dear tim,
it would be so nice to have a great tailor here in the netherlands!
do you know if there are any truly wonderful tailors in our country? i know one in haarlem, never been there, and that's about it. from what i understand suit supply does bespoke besides mtm, but i don't know. i don't except too much from them, i suppose i rather take the trip across the pond than take any risks with them.TimMureau wrote:Very unfortunately, we have the same problem here in the Netherlands where I live.
