136 views... zero answers. Interesting! So no one?
Vass makes very comfy and solid ones that aren't at all clunky. Don't know if that's stylish enough for you.
Weston classic mocassins "Janson de Sailly"
Edward Green Portland are by no means unattractive, but not available in the London shop during the colder months of the year...

Thanks for your replies! The Portland is not exactly my style but in general the Edward Green and Weston shoes are very good looking! The question is... how comfortable they are for actual walking?
I changed the topic title. Are these deconstructed Italian loafers more comfortable for a walk? Example brands, models? I know they are not in season now in places like London but anyways.

Deconstructed shoes might be more confortable to wear, but good construction usually makes for more confortable shoes when walking extensively: so, if by walking you mean a light promenade, even something like a car shoe (the model, not necessarily the make) might be fine.
I have the Weston 180s for some years now and they are by far the best loafer I've ever owned: they fit beautifully, wear wonderfully comfortable right out of the box, superbly made and very chic in a collegiate sense!alden wrote:Weston classic mocassins "Janson de Sailly"
Much better fitting than loafers that I have from Crockett and Lobb though you do have to love the Lobb Lopez in brown suede with its hand stiching if only for their looks...now if they only fit and the London store staff weren't so comatose and lightened the dosage of their medications, which would help me cope when shopping there....
Plus the Weston in-store service ( London branch) set a standard that the British could really learn from.
Who would have thunk that the French are setting the service standard but truth be told I've always found the perception of lack of French service standards a myth, and that in reality it always exceeded anything in London. You just have to speak to the French properly...that is to say, humanly. Not that radical a concept!
I am tempted to sometime try the EG Harrow slip on but EG never really fit me well, at least in their lace ups, so that purchase is still up in the air. Plus the prospect of another service trauma in their Jermyn St. store...oh God help us all. I shudder as I write this.
Having said that, I now wear loafers 80% of the time, finding them exceedingly stylish, nonchalant, throw away, and not at all boringly serious, having shed that skin, and so do need a pair now and then, particularly in dark brown suede which seems to me to be the rightful ruler of the loafer roost.
BTW, which model is the Janson de Sailly; I don't find a reference in the JMWeston website to this name...?
I have a 23-yr-old pair of made in the US, LL Bean camp mocs (unlined) that are very comfortable for walking. Same goes for a cheap pair of lined Italian loafers, which are also moccasin-constructed. Whether or not the moccasin construction contributes to their walking comfort, I don't know. But for summer travel, I usually pack both and alternate them.
Another option from the same general sandbox: haven't seen them in the flesh, so you'll have to seek other feedback.

Thanks for the update guys! Yes, something like an elegant car shoe... without the side stitches... that's what I thought about.
Something like this? But in normal colors:

Russell Moccasins specialise in very comfortable hunting boots, but also make a wide range of moccasins and loafers that are very durable, comfortable and well made. They are all made-to-measure for a reasonable price, with a wide range of rubber and leather soles, and the factory will resole them quite cheaply. www.russellmoccasin.com
Out of this collection I have the loafer called mocassino in brown ... Very comfortable to walk and very elegant !

In suede ..
The EG Harrow (or is it the Eton? There are two similar designs) is essentially the Wildsmith slipper. Nice design, very comfortable, and-- not to imply cause and effect-- the last is not especially like the ones used for EG oxfords. However, they aren't great shoes for trudging around the city on concrete sidewalks.uppercase wrote: I am tempted to sometime try the EG Harrow slip on but EG never really fit me well, at least in their lace ups, so that purchase is still up in the air.
