i bought my wife a sonim xp1--she has destroyed about 4 or 5 cell phones over the years
this one was truly indestructible--you could put it in a glass of water, dial it and it'd still ring

two problems:

1. the extra water & shock proofing, reduced the sound quality of the speaker somewhat and of the microphone even more. Everyone complained that she sounded slightly fuzzy--and that was 2 different phones.
2. within 3 weeks she lost the phone and i was out $500.

i decided cheap throw-away was best--shes lost half dozen phones in 5 years. add that to the broken ones, and i think im just better off getting her $50 phones
