Is Tonik no longer available?
If it is available, what's the heaviest weight you can get?
If not, who offers the best (and heaviest) mohair blends these days?

For heavyweight mohair, try calling Harrisons and ask if they have any of the old LessLan mohair left. I think the Japanese came in and bought all of it but there may be some leftover. There were some dark gray stripes when I was last at the warehouse.

According to Patrick Murphy at Huntsman, there are only two or three patterns left, none of which are attractive. I am wearing my one Lesslon suit today - ordered in January of 2009. At that time, there were, perhaps, six patterns and I ordered the only one I liked.alden wrote:For heavyweight mohair, try calling Harrisons and ask if they have any of the old LessLan mohair left. It is great stuff and if you think you might know a tailor that has a length or two in their shop, it would be worth a look.

Yes, I only saw a few dark grays with stripes. It is a shame because the fabric is very handsome. I am lobbying for a new issue....

Michael,
If Harrison's is not interested, could this be a project for the Cloth Club?

Yes, it very well may be. I just wonder whether the mill involved makes this weight cloth anymore.

Michael,
I've been exploring mohairs a bit and discovered William Halstead:
http://www.williamhalstead.co.uk/
I've heard a few positive comments about their mohairs and they do bespoke fabrics. Most of their mohairs, however, are in the 8 to 12 ounce range. Not sure if they are capable of making something heavier. If so, it might be interesting.
Best,
Greg
