Draper's Panama Worsted in "blueprint blue" with scarlet/white pencil stripe

Wonderful! Wow, those buttons are awesome. Could you tell us more about cloth and buttons?

The cloth is Draper's "Panama Worsted" which is around 7 or 8 ounces. The "blueprint blue" ground is what caught my eye. The pencil stripes are actually two narrow crimson stripes separated by a thin white stripe. It tailored beautifully. If you look around on the fora I think you will see a photo of Luca Rubi. wearing trousers from this cloth.

Nino Corvato made the suit. He gets his own buttons and linings from Italy. I used these same buttons on a Solaro (TM) suit he made. The contrast of the reddish/brown buttons on this suit and the classic Solaro worked out well.

I have found that Draper's cloth is more readily available in Italy. They are based in Bologna. They have a very wide range and in the U.S. you don't tend to see books of all their cloths. I have come to think of Draper's as the "Italian" H. Lesser.

Sure. I first saw the cloth in Italy. I first saw a small swatch of it and didn't think it would work. After seeing the bolt in New York, it became more appealing. That's one advantage of buying cloth from the bolt rather than a small cutting. It may still be available in Brooklyn.

I am really amazed by the cost of cloth in Italy. When the sales reps from the Italian mills come round and show their wares..it is a real shock. Really insignificant goods at very significant prices...even to the trade.
