The cloth shown looks like an Italian imitation Solaro (TM). The science cited is fuzzy, and the historical lore even fuzzier.

This is all very interesting. I would really like to know the science and the history of this cloth, even if it's all just quackery.

A British imitation of an Italian name, brought back by the Italians as an imitation of the British use of the name. Rich stuff.
