Hello, gentlemen
Any opinions on angled/slanted pockets on a DB suit jacket? I am considering a solid (charcoal HL 11 Oz Golden Bale) DB suit. My new tailor indicated that he gets very good results with this style.
Thank you.
Slanted pockets on DB suit jacket

A slight angle to the pocket can be very pleasing on a DB or SB. But overdone, it appears gimmicky and formulaic.

I know "an equestrian feature on a lounge coat" sounds like a mental cliche, but do you see any aesthetical merits to even slightly slanted pockets on DB coats? To my mind, the straight all-around bottom of a DB coat takes a horizontal pocket too well to try anything funny. Or am I losing my humour?

Straight flap pockets on the coat of a double-breasted suit are perfect; they're even better if the pockets are jetted and flapped if the suit is made of a pick & pick worsted. Very elegant, indeed.
If the suit is made of a woollen flannel chalk stripe or Prince of Wales check, a ticket out flap
pocket above the right hip pocket is a smart addition. The problem with a ticket out flap is that
both hip pockets need to have their flaps out, too, for overall balance. A barchetta welt breast pocket
makes a lovely finishing touch if the little boat-shaped curve isn't overly exaggerated and
the pattern in the cloth is meticulously maintained above and below the welt. Double-breasted
suits look better from the back with deep side vents.
Save slant pockets for a one- or two-button single-breasted hacking jacket worn in the country. A deep
center vent looks best on these sporty coats.

If you have several regular db coats why not have slanted hip pockets? I don't recommend it as a starter, but it is OK to start there.
