Does it take all of us?
I am happy to wear mine, whenever the occasion calls for it. It is more "contemporary", as you say, than full morning dress and certainly draws less attention on occasions when hardly anyone is expected to show up in a cutaway. Just like a dinner suit is a lot more practical and versatile today, in fact. There are a lot more places and occasions where I may wear a stroller or dinner suit, than those where I'd feel comfortable wearing a morning suit or tails, however elegant and dashing the latter may be.

Yes, in fact it's just a variaton of day-to-day dress: a SB or DB coat, a waistcoat - if any, your usual cut of trousers, a normal turndown collar shirt, a tie, black shoes. It's the details and choice of fabrics and accessories that makes the dress formal: few will note that the dark gray or black coat is ventless and the pockets - flapless, the trousers have particular B&W patterns, the shirt has a white collar, the silver tie (although that's fine for weddings, only one's imagination and taste can limit the choice for other kinds of events), the shoes are (captoe) oxfords, a black Homburg to top it up if needed. It is a more subtle way of expressing formality, in my view, than resorting to the cutaway - an that is particularly useful on the numerous occasion nowadays when full morning dress may be too much.

A nice image Costi. Would a summerweight iteration of the Stroller be a good end-use for the black Brisa, or is this always executed in a heavy worsted?

Simon, I think the black Brisa would be an excellent choice! My DB stroller is also in an open, but fine summer weave:


It's black in reality, but the detail photograph washed out the colour.
I'll take a full sized picture the next time I put it on - it would be a shame to photograph it on a hanger...

I prefer the DB cut for summer, because the coat can be made in a porous weave cloth and worn without a waistcoat. For cooler days I prefer the SB design in a heftier cloth, as you write, worn with a waistcoat:

Mine is a 6x2 DB cut from Minnis 0514 oxford grey fresco. I have had it for about two years and enjoy wearing it when the occasion permits. Typical events would be afternoon weddings,college graduations,babtisms,Easter. All in all perhaps eight to ten times per year.

Just a quick note to say that the much anticipated black Brisa and black Mistral is on the way. Testing is in process as we speak.

It sounds terrific Michael. Now we have premium fabric sources for both strollers and dinner suits, in summer weight (and possibly winter weight, if the Mistral is appropriate?) . Our tailors will be very happy......

And so will we! It had not occured to me that a black Mistral could be made in addition to the black Brisa, but I really like the idea and will definitely be subscribing to both.
