It's worth remembering that Mastroianni's film wardrobe may have been very different from his real-life wardrobe. Certainly the monochrome, Manichean black and white outfits he wore in La Dolce Vita and the decadent vieux beau outfits of Divorce Italian Style may not bear much resemblance to his personal style. However, he was one of that nearly disappeared generation of film stars who did have great personal style. Among others, he was a tailoring client of Cristiani in Paris before it was folded into Charvet.
