I cannot be absolutely sure who makes them, but Garrard here in London has a few absolutely superb humidors in shagreen. Unfortunately the prices are well beyond reason.

I spoke to the people in France who I think manufactured them, but they will only accept commissions for at least six. This obviously limited my interest, so I did not ask for the price. Well, this may be a possibility, but finding interest for six may be difficult. I suspect the cost (even without the retail markup) would be astronomical.

I have a call into Elie Bleu...stay tuned. We might be able to do a Humidor from the classic series like the L'oupe D'Amboine in a 300 cigar with a LL logo of some kind.

I suggest that 600 cigars is the smallest inventory that permits ageing along with regular consumption. I smoke about five a week and find I need to keep at least that many if I want to let some treasures age for several years. That size or larger is conveniently built into a wine stoage room where it can be plumbed for humidity but can be purchased in a chest with legs.

Up to 100 cigars is adequate, in my opinion, for a secondary location such as a city apartment that is restocked from the principal humidor.

Elie Bleus are not long term humidors set up for ageing.

Because of the superb use of the finest cedar, they are humidors you will keep cigars for six months to a year to finish the ageing process. They are more "salon" humidors for a room in your house. But cigars finished in these humidors have a particularly rich and round taste.

I´ve a thought or two that might gain a few nonsmoking subscribers to a limited edition. A quick reconnaisance through Elie Bleu´s website showed enough fine workmanship in pleasing designs that I´d be interested in acquiring a box from the company, but not one rigged out as a humidor (for which I´d have no use). If a subscriber could have simply the box (or, perhaps, one fitted for wristwatches -- as shown in one illustration on that ´site -- or as a letter box, a jewellery box, etc.), preferrably without an emblem (were I to have any, I´d want my own -- but there´s no sense in other Loungers having that!) and perhaps (because of the use of less material and less work) at a discount, I should think that many Loungers might like to acquire one of a handsome and unusual edition.

Any positive news on a LL humidor? I've been looking at humidors at Davidoff at the end of Jermyn Street as I'm keen to acquire one for 100 or so cigars.

I have a 2500 cigar Vigilant humidor (electronic) that got me so excited when I bought it that I didn't read the instructions. I overhumidified everything. It has taken me a few years to get everything back to perfect smoking order, as it is a disaster if you try to go from wet to dry too fast. The good news is that I have a pretty good stash of aged havanas now.

I prefer Elie Bleus, but I prefer a humidor that can be used and not seen (in a soreroom or such, as I don't like all of my guests going through my stash.

I agree with you: Elie Bleu is a great humidor brand. I suggest you to give a look to Humidiff. They create masterpieces.
Personally I storage my cigars in their boxes for years and I have two big humidors containing 90 boxes each one. They come from Spain and the brand is Hunidorstars:

I can't control temperature but level of humidity only.
I used to aging cigars in this big humidors at a low level of humidity and temperature (65% r.h. - 16°/18°) while in the little cabinets of the living room my cigars stay at a higher level (70% r.h. - 20°).

As I posted in another thread, I am a fan of Daniel Marshall humidors. The 150 count I have sitting next to the chair in my study is as close to perfect as I have ever had in a humidor. Marshall sells factory seconds (though finding the defect is next to impossible) at very attractive prices, too.

Here is the first look at the model for the LL humidor by Elie Bleu. It is a 200 cigar humidor in a 1930s art deco design in acajou/mahogany. The letters THE LONDON LOUNGE will be added in black or gold English script.



It should be stunning.
