Having been unable to figure out how to insert photos into these postings, I have put on the member's photojournal page, 5 different "golf jackets" from my collection. Photo number one is of a reversible cotton (Made in Italy) Sulka jacket, that I travel with extensively. I would like to have one made bespoke, but it is a hybrid of a shirt and jacket, with zipper, knit cuffs, etc. Do any members know who might have expertise in making something like this? Virtually all of the jackets I have of this kind are made in Italy. I did not post one in Suede by Schiatti, nor another of heavy Oxford cloth, nor another of so called parachute cloth.
I am interested in having one made with either cotton or linen, reversible, contrast colors, very light weight. Is this in the domain of a shirtmaker or tailor????????

This kind of garment's conception and realization should be left with a good tailor. There are shirtmakers who might take on the project, but they are likely not to go to all the trouble of making a pattern etc to do one shirt jacket for one customer. If the item might be of interest to many of the shirtmaker's clients he may agree to do a prototype and procede to make the item you are seeking.
This shirt/jacket style is very common in Italy and you might find one RTW in the fabrics you want.

Thank you for the advice. My recent tour thru Italy showed only heavier less stylish Made in Italy jackets. How does the tailor handle the knit cuff/collar? Because of climatic considerations southern California shops often have these (e.g. Carroll & Co., Beverly Hills), but they have tended towards heavier cloths the last few years. The first example I posted is actually my favorite, and I would love to have one made with plain linen on one side, striped linen the other, or heavy cotton one face, contrast cotton plain or fancy the other (see the last example). The beauty of the jackets for travel is the multitude of pockets inside and out (passport, cellphone, sunglasses).
The only manufacture labelled on these is the suede which I did not post (Schiatti), and I believe they are exclusively leather makers.

Terry
