I am interested in tartan trousers, and wonder whether anyone can give some recommendations for vendors, either in Europe or online. My preference is in particular for tartans of the more formal type usable in daily life (dark colors, if tweed of a very fine kind, etc.).

My advice would be to buy the cloth from a vendor in Edinburgh and ask your tailor to make the trousers. Kinloch Anderson has an arrangement with Dege & Skinner on Savile Row - http://www.dege-skinner.co.uk/tailoring ... dress2.htm.
