Gentlemen ,
last month I was in Italy as some of you know and I met with Salvatore in my Rome Hotel .. I've ordered one pair of pants to start with and he came back 4 days later ready for a first and final fitting . I received the pants 10 days ago and they were tight in the waist + the pleats in the front did not seat on the pants at all . I phoned Salvatore and send the pants back explaining what was wrong. Today I received the new pair, waist seems to be all right but the pleats continue not to seat on the pants + they have a hole in the inner thighs section . The thought of sending the pants back once again makes me a bit angry to be honest so I thought of posting few pictures here and ask for opinions as well on how to handle the situation as Mr. Ambrosi is one of the certified artisans of the LL .
Kind regards
Vassilis

I am sorry to see this.
If you find the beginnings to your likings, and can see the end product you eventually want, I hope you will find it within yourself to continue your relationship with them as a maker. It may take years and other visits, but from what I have seen on their other clients I think they are worthwhile. Your experience also underscores the need to be able to visit a maker often (or the other way around), and that sometimes elusive mutual "getting" of client and maker.
It is often said that the first impression is the lasting impression. I would trust your instincts on this one as to whether you will be able to achieve what you have hoped for - just because others can achieve it with the maker does not mean that you can.

Dear Vassilis,
It looks like the trousers are a bit tight through the hips, which makes them
pull back and the pleats gap. I think Mr. Ambrosi is known for cutting leaner trousers and you just need more fullness in the upper area. The legs look fine. The pictures are fuzzy, but it may also be a matter of ironing - did you try to have them ironed properly by a tailor?
The "hole" is easily repairable by any seamstress with a sewing machine.

They do not look right at all.
I will defer to the experts on cut but it is disappointing to see how after a fitting the pleats almost seem not to belong to the trousers. How on earth did that hole leave the workshop or have they 'pulled' in some way since you have had them.
What is the rear view like?
This experience is a contrast to that of one regular client of their as recorded in his blog - I was going to try them when Salvatore finally makes London but now I have doubts.

thank you ,
I want to make clear that my overall experience with Salvatore Ambrosi was a good one . He is an honest man and a very good craftsman as far as I can say . However the LL is a place where we can share our unfortunate experiences as well as our good ones...Is it not? I continue to believe that I can have a good result with Salvatore and I will continue to aim for that by being his customer . I am not happy with the present result but he has already offered to fix it .
My experience raises many issues like distance between you and your tailor , language , personal relationship and others .
Kind regards

Mr. Vassilas I only met one time and we have measured the trousers, should not happen but sometimes it happens that there are problems, but his problem is solved with the replacement of pants ..
Please just put the pictures of the new trousers when you arrive home
So when to Mr. Ambrosi visit London?
Thank you.
Thank you.
