Help!

My tailor has been sending me cloth samples in the mail, and for the life of me, I can't figure out which side is the face.

Does the face have the tag stuck to it, or is it the reverse?

I'm feeling mighty foolish.

I've seen them both ways. This is not something that has been 'regulated' thus far.

SI 1000,0027 2009 The Label-on-Sample-Cloth Regulations 2009, SI 1000,0027
The Secretary of State for Sartorial Misdemeanours, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the Total Prats Act 2009, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following, totally incomprehensible, regulations:

1. Tailors' duties and offences
1(1) Tailors shall not, in any circumstances, label sample cloths inside out.
(2) Any tailor who contravenes the provisions of regulation 1(1) shall, on summary conviction, be liable to imprisonment for a maximum term of six months or a fine up to level 5 on the standard scale.
(3) Meanwhile, thugs, murderers, robbers, child-molesters, burglars, aggressive drunks, and litter-louts may, more or less, go about their business as normal.

Signed,
Harmless Moron.
Secretary of State for Modern Britain.
SORRY.

The following may help:

The labels on the cloth samples seem to be printed by the manufacturer on a small square of paper and stuck to the cloth--eg:

Smith & Co (W) Ltd.
100% Merino wool
3904
12/13 ozs 375/405 gms

Is there a rule of thumb with these labels?

On other cloth samples that aren't identified thus, my tailor has had the decency to identify one side as the "face."

And as long as I'm at it, whetever in the world does 12/13 ozs mean? Does that mean the cloth is 12 ozs or 13 ozs, or does it mean something else?

I'd like to know the answer to this as well.

The draw samples have the labels on the correct side of the cloth. So if you're reading the label, that's the right side of the cloth.
