Were they really Brooks Brothers, as one often hears in Italy? They certainly don't look it: the spread (with the collar left unbuttoned as he did) looks wider than BB's. I suspect they were bespoke, like most of his wardrobe.

They cant be BB right?

I mean the reason why he wore his watch on the cuff was because the shirt was so well tailored.

He also wore the watch that way with his non button-down shirt. I believe those were bespoke from Finollo, Genova. Actually, if you look closely, he doesn't really wear the watch on the cuff, but on the sleeve, sitting on the cuff. Otherwise it would slide up and down (I know people who have little loops sewn onto their cuffs to keep the watch in place).

I believe the watch-over-cuff thing is a style cue taken mainly from 1920-30's racing car drivers, by the way.

Sulka used to say in their brochures that they often furnished a wider cuff on the watch wrist so that the cuff did not get in the way.

I think all the Italian shirtmakers I've used always offered to do this. And I wear my watch on the right wrist -- another reason to go bespoke or MTM.
