After a recent visit to some of the usual St James footwear sources it occurred to me that plain suede wholecuts are hardly ever seen. Why is that? Couldn't they just be a somewhat dandy-er and city-er alternative to suede derbys/bluchers?

If I were to guess I would say to have a suede wholecut is a bit of a mixture of styles. At least state side suede is typically used on more casual shoes, and wholecuts aren't often thought of as casual. A suede wholecut would be like a black calf chukka, I do see them but it is somehow just a little off. I'm sure you could always have them made however.
