Two clothing history books, out of print and forthcoming
Dear Mr. Storey,
Yesterday I was delighted to find your lovely book at Books Kinokuniya in Kuala Lumpur's Twin Towers. Its style is measured, charming, and eminently readable, and it is as reliably full of wisdom and information as your posts here.
It has added a most pleasurable sartorial note to the the beginning of the New Year. My thanks and congratulations!

Dear Huzir,
I am glad that you found and enjoyed my book and thank you for taking the time to say so in your charming note, which starts my New Year very well indeed. Happy New Year.

Mr Storey -
Picked up the book just before Xmas, and it was a great comfort and companion as the inevitable Christmas flu struck me down and kept me housebound... As has been stated above, it is very approachable and a delightful read.
I urge all LL'ers to get yourself a copy!
Kudos to you! And I am greatly looking forward to a follow up at some point..

I am sorry to hear about the 'flu - we got hit by a terrific storm and caught colds just after Christmas but they are clearing up. I am pleased that you found comfort in the book and I thank you for your appreciation!

Do you know if it is available in US stores?
Cordovan
Cordovan
Sorry, Cordovan - I missed this post - The US and rest-of-world distribution arrangements should be finalized on Monday 12th January, which means that it will then be available in the shops and from online US suppliers shortly after that. I know that amazon.co.uk have supplied to various countries in the meantime.Cordovan wrote:Do you know if it is available in US stores?

I've just bought Mr Storey's book as well as The Suit - there could be few higher recommendations, in my opinion, than finding that the authors are contributors to this forum. I very much enjoyed The Suit (though I've never read The Prince, the book was very well structured to my mind, so if that comes from Macchiavelli's opus then it must have been a good template) and "The History..." is currently being browsed. Congratulations to you both - they're both very worthy additions to the canon of books on men's style.

Would it just be wishful thinking to anticipate a book tour in the US?

My sainted aunt!! All this enthusiasm for the book has come as rather a shock to me. I am still in the throes of finalizing the US deal - but I'll see!! Maybe the publisher can pay hoards of people to mob me as I landCordovan wrote:Would it just be wishful thinking to anticipate a book tour in the US?

I suppose I'm just being overly anxious. Any update for the US offering?

Yes, the book is properly available there, including on amazon.com but there might be a small delay in finding it advertised and actually available just because of time for transportation and distribution.Cordovan wrote:I suppose I'm just being overly anxious. Any update for the US offering?

I should point out that the Farid Chenoune book is considerably less expensive in the original French, but also rather hard to find. Find a copy if you don't mind brushing up on your French. It's what I'm about to do!
Mr Storey, I've just ordered a copy of your book, concurrently with "Scottish Estate Tweeds" by E.P. Harrison. I look forward to all of them!

P.
