Inspired by a "very practical coat"
Looks very fine but the pictures are a little small - any chance of larger ones?

The tailor is the same I have used for the DB suit I've made recently(see the thread "what do you gentlemen think of the length") . The cloth is brown and black herringbone , West Yorkshire made, 600oz , 20% cashmere .

Gents ,
one question ! When I wear my new overcoat without wearing a coat inside it looks and feels a bit big , especially on the shoulders not around the waist where it still seems to keep its shape . Have you had similar experiences ?
thanks

I can't see the pictures well (on a mobile phone), but your overcoat seems to look good! It appears to have a fair amount of structure in the shoulders and, since it was meant to be worn over a coat or jacket (not over a pullover like a raglan or a covert might be worn), your tailor made the overcoat large enough to accommodate one. Nothing to worry about
Beautiful coat!
Yes, our tailors would have fit the coat to be worn with a suit's coat etc. I like to wear the useful DB with a chunky jumper like a good thick Shetland or Camelhair, one that fills the space in the shoulder. When I wear my new overcoat without wearing a coat inside it looks and feels a bit big , especially on the shoulders
Well done.

Thanks Michael ,
I have to admit I had in mind to ask my tailor to shorten the shoulder line a couple of cm but I don't think I'll do it after reading all the comments above.
cheers

This is a very nice looking coat. I've got half a mind to commissioning something like that myself. I wonder what kind of colors and fabrics would work best for an every day coat - business and leisure. I tend to think that everything looks better in navy, and since it would be my first coat....
I noticed that you show pictures wearing the coat on the 2nd button. I suppose you had to specifically request that to your tailor?
