I'll be happy to help.

On another note, has anyone noticed that the blogger site that Pierre and catolufsen use occasionally seems to try to send malware? My antivirus seems to catch stuff from that site every few times I visit one of those blogs.
A bientôt
Pierre
The first part of the translation has been sent to your email address Pierre.laliquette wrote:Michael exagère toujours un peu ,je suis un artisan honète voila tout.

Just a note -- I'm translating the next chunk of Pierre's blog and have hit a stumbling block where he refers to the various workers in the shirtmaking trade. I've looked at some of my books and consulted the various Internet technical translation resources without getting precise translations. I can fudge it, but if someone has precise translations for the parurière [who appears to be the person who cuts out or prepares the trimmings of the shirt], the faucolière [is this someone who works on the collar or the collar band?], the apprêteuse [this appears to be someone who prepares or who does finishing work on (the pieces of) the shirt], the monteuse [this sounds like the person who attaches the pieces of the shirt, but I'm not sure], et the vérificatrice [obviously, the person who checks the finished garment, but "checker" or "verifier" don't sound right].
Thanks.

I do not know the techniques of shirtmaking but, as a native speaker , would offer the following translations/explanations:rjman wrote:Just a note -- I'm translating the next chunk of Pierre's blog and have hit a stumbling block where he refers to the various workers in the shirtmaking trade. - Parurière: My old Harrap's Dictionary has, under "parure": 2 (a) dress, finery, (b) Ornament, Head-dress, (c) Set (of jewellery, of collar and cuffs, of underclothes, etc...). [My underlining]
- Faucolière : Littré has for "faux col": "façon de col de chemise qui s'attache autour du cou". Harrap's has "Faux col: Detachable collar". Would that refer to somenone who handles/makes detachable collars?
- Apprêteur/euse: From Harrap's: Finisher, dresser(of fabrics, metal, etc...). Under Apprêter: 2 To dress, finish, stiffen (fabrics, etc...) ; to get up (shirt, etc.). [Whatever "get up" means....]
- Monteuse: That would refer to someone in charge of assembling ("montage") the various parts. Cf. Chaîne de montage: Assembly line.
- Vérificatrice: I would suggest [quality] controller.
! am sorry I cannot be more helpful. Why not ask an English shirtmaker for the precise term, once you have ascertained the exact meaning?
