Good morning to all (if you happen to be in the same time zone!).
I have come to the realization that I need more shoes (from the "Black brogue" thread for those of you who follow it!). I now have a (very) few pairs mostly from New & Lingwood (they seem to fit me well), two C & J (one handgrade which I find a bit narrow, one "normal" which fits nicely), two very old pairs of Church's (good fit).
I would be interested in trying EG, Foster's, Church's (Paris vs. London prices?), possibly Lobb (not Saint James's Street -- that is for when I win the lottery -- .Would Paris be less expensive than London?) or Cleverly (are they not v. expensive?), RTW only, preferably on sale. Fit is my primary concern. My tastes are strictly traditional (no fancy colours or patination). I also feel very awkward about trying on several pairs of shoes without buying anything!
When are the next sales (early January, late December)? If Church's and N & l fit me, where would I be most likely to find a good fit amongst the several makers listed above? Which ones would be less expensive?
Thank you for your advice. I do read the shoe discussions and would go for bespoke if I felt able to spend the money .

London Shoe Sales
Last year the Jermyn St. shoe sales started on 24th December
Tricker's are worth a try too. Many of the shops will send you a card telling you the sale's date, if you ask them to.

On a related note, and sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, I believe Kurt Geiger still have the two styles that Edward Green made for them on sale for £170 on their website - 70% off the original price, I believe...
I wouldn't go for Church’s..I have a couple of old pairs that are holding up very well but their new lasts and construction are not the same. Nevertheless if you want church's try the Austin Reed shop on Regent street .They ALWAYS have quite a few pairs on sale there. Also, www. Herringshoes.co.uk provides a wide range of Church's - sales and seconds . Another reliable source of good shoes on sale is the John Lobb factory shop on Oliver street Northampton . I have bought several bargains from there in the past and you can call Jane in advance to find out what they have on your size.!
Out of all you have mentioned I would go for a pair of Cleverley , that’s where my next pair of black oxfords is coming from later on this month
