Why does everyone feel the need to criticize A&S all the time? Especially the A&S alums with these veiled references to "changes afoot"? Get a life guys!
I have used A&S for several garments for the past few years and been completely satisfied. The fit is as good or better than any tailor I know. The garments fit, feel and look very unique. John Hitchcock is a wonderful cutter who was able to get the fit right at the first fitting (have not needed major or time consuming adjustments since then) despite every other tailor telling me that I am a very difficult fit. As long as you are not teaching them how to make the suit from the inside out, they are very willing to collaborate and take your input. And the customer service is truly first rate.
I couldn't recommend them more highly.
SR houses: more or less, all the same?
I have a question about cutting on the bias - I thought collars were cut on the bias so they sit properly?

Just saw this post and I agree with you Smoothjazz. John Hitchcock and AS are in the CAP because their customers generally share your view. The clothes I have seen are first rate.I have used A&S for several garments for the past few years and been completely satisfied. The fit is as good or better than any tailor I know. The realities of a large SR firm and small independents are a bit different. A small firm is driven by one man or a small team. The SR house is a more complex combination of hands and eyes working in concert. AS does an outstanding job.
