Dougie Hayward tailor, another great passes away.

Sad. But a good obituary; although I don't see mentioned Noel Coward's brown DJ.

Did any LL members have clothes made by Doug Hayward? If so in what style did he make? How did they rate his work?

Manself, check the Bond films from "For your eyes only" to "A view to a kill", Hayward did Roger Moore`s clothes. Also Michale Caine in numerous films, such as "The Italian Job" and "Get Carter".

Are you hoping to sneak in one last commission? :)

Not if it would result in me dressing like Roger Moore's Bond! But I've missed the boat in any case.

I'm just interested to know if the reality of Hayward's work lived up to the showbiz hype. The obituaries are wowed by his stellar list of customers, but I've no idea if he was well thought of within the business.

I've just re-watched the segment on Douglas Hayward from BBC's "British Style Genius".

This is probably the best story on a bespoke tailor I saw in a very long time... Michael Caine's comments are indeed almost genius.

I agree with this.
It was really a pleasure to watch!
I really like the Hayward shop, I was visiting it last time I was in London and it is nice to see. Also nice is the story about the early years that it was like a club for famous people..
Fantastic a shop with that history.
