I happened to be visiting Miguel at Carmina yesterday to see the prototype of the LL Balmoral boot that many of you have seen here and on the Carmina blog. New photos should be available in the next few days of the boot. My impressions were very positive. In cordovan leather the boot takes on an altogether different and stunning personality. I will await the judgment of the other members, but it is clear that Carmina is making a very special product for the LL that is unlike anything on the market today.
Scoop
And Carmina is also on the move with a new last that is sure to please sophisticated dressers. The "Simpson" last reminds me a bit of the EG Top Drawer form. It is sleek and very elegant. I hope to have photos of the last very soon so you can see for yourself. The sample I saw was a simple oxford toe cap in a Dark Oak brown leather. It was spectacular.Stay tuned for more info.
Avant premiere--new Carmina last
but how do we know what size we wear?
I understand that Carmina has a large display at Bergdorf in NY, mainly the cordovan shoes on the Forest last. Once you know your size on the Forest last, the other lasts should fit to about the same size.
Looks a bit like Ugolini's U last from this angle.
That is exquisite. I feel it is time for a trip to Paris.alden wrote:Here is the first picture of a prototype of the new Simpson last by Carmina
Any news on the new Simpson last from Carmina?
While not specific to Carmina is there a place in NY (closest big city) that has shoes for those of the wide of foot? My experience has been that everyone in Europe has thin feet. At least that is my conclusion based uppon never seeing wides carried.
Newbie here. My first LL post.

Alden's makes a large range of sizes in its many models, including vvvveeerrrryyyy wide shoes. However, you mightn't like the models.
I wish people would read what I mean and not what I write. Alden is my company of choice. I'm intrigued by the Europeans but they seem to have an aversion to making wide shoes.RWS wrote:Alden's makes a large range of sizes in its many models, including vvvveeerrrryyyy wide shoes.
