Belt loops

Gentleman, just a simple question. Does one have to wear a belt when there are belt loops on the trousers? I tend to wear them without sometimes and I quite like it, but what would be the correct way to do it- if there is such a thing.

Kind regards

If no belt fills the belt loops, the wearer looks half-dressed. I'm not fond of belts (despite having nearly so many as I have neckties, it seems!) and so find myself often commissioning trousers with side adjusters instead.

I agree, trousers may be made to be worn without a belt, but empty belt loops conjure up by association the image of the belt, creating a sense that something is missing.
