could anyone give some advice on cartier leather briefcases and attaches?
i've heard some good things about them on their leather stuff and i just want to open my options for my next purchase before i run off to the UK Trad houses like asprey, SA, Krolle etc.
do they do it inhouse or outsoure?
thanks lots.

Don't know the answer to your particular question but don't forget Pickett in the Burlington Arcade.
Well you're in luck, I used to work for them. I've never owned a piece of Cartier leather, however my partner has. For the last 6 years she's used on a daily basis a rather nice Cartier purse (calf’s leather) which has lived in her handbag along with car keys, pens, makeup compacts and such the like. Despite this, the leather largely remains unmarked. Also, the ends of the creases where the leather folds (or, the corners of the purse) are unworn, which is usually one of the first places to show signs of wear. In London, repairs (should they be needed) are undertaken by an external contractor through Cartier, who is very good at his work. Hope this helps.

Elton,
perhaps you know a thing or 2 about whether their leather goods are done in their own workshop or in some other maker's hands?

Well to be honest I can't say I know as I was involved on the horological side. However, from what I do know of the company I'd say that they are produced externally.
