French bespoke

Recently I confessed to, after having overdosed on Lino Ventura films, ordering a bespoke sportcoat from a French tailor. I thought I'd report in.

The tailor himself was a bit gruff, but warmed once we began talking. Measurements were taken, details carefully noted -- no surprises there. He had me try on an existing sportcoat and took some measurements with that on, I suppose to see how it hung.

I had my first fitting last weekend. The tailor expects there to be three fittings. This first fitting was with a muslin copy of the pattern, which I had never done before -- the British tailors don't appear to do this. It'll be interesting to see what value it might add. Some more nipping, tucking and snipping, a few extra details confirmed, and the choice of patterned robe silk for the lining.
