Gabor called me and quoted 700 dollars delivered with trees for a pair of Budapesters in calf.

A good price in the States, David. A pair of box-calf medallion captoes, on the U last (but not bespoke) with trees, were $790 delivered in the "special offer" arranged for the AAAC "Collection of Sartorial Excellence" held in New York city at the beginning of March. Of course, the dollar has appreciated somewhat since then.

This is good news, Miguel. I'd be particularly interested in learning specific comparisons between Kielman, Vass, and Green in construction of each maker's shoes, and I thank you in advance for those comparisons. Before you fly, I'll try to find and quote from John Cusey's summary of major advantages to Vass's construction, which he posted in a thread on "Ask Andy about Clothes"; that might furnish a good starting point.
