scuff

I got a Martegani derby stuck under a heavy metal door and it scuffed (it also hurt a lot, but I was in the middle of a sort of interview at the time, so I said nothing, especially since the other guy had pushed me into the door). There is an inch-long scuff about 1-2 mm wide. Does anyone know how I would repair this?

I haven't been brave enough to try this. My usual approach to such scuffs is to use a little extra cream and little extra polish in this area. After each polishing it gets better and better, until one day it's just a sign of character.

I understand that the repairs departments of shoemakers such as John Lobb, for example, can make even much more heavily damaged shoes look near-new. This is part of the standard service done with resoling, and takes some time. I don't know whether Martegani have a similar service, or whether you'd need to take it to a third party repairer, but, suffice to say, there's someone out there who can fix them. The cost would probably be small, in any case, as a proportion of the shoes' cost, it would be minimal.

I too, would be reluctant to do it myself. You need, as they say, professional help.
