Gentlemen:

While feeling somewhat guilty as a result of asking a great deal more than I am able to contribute back to the forum at this time, I am hoping that some members can help me with the following question.

Coinciding with my first steps down the bespoke path, I am busy plotting my return to San Francisco (where I spent most of the last 10 years) from London.

Can anyone suggest suitable fabrics that can deal with the well remembered ups and downs of Bay Area weather. Because I'm starting out with only two suits (due to my desire to stay married to my good lady wife), ideally I'd be looking for cloths that can (as much as possible) be worn year round.

From what I've read, the prime suspects appear to be linen, gaberdine, cotton and silk

Many thanks again for any suggestions
Will

In the City itself, I get the most use from 10 ounce worsteds and heavier open weaves such as 13 ounce mohair and 14 ounce fresco. Though there are three months of the year, and we're in them, when heavier cloth is useful.
