So my parents are n Paris (they are staying at the Lutecia) and they went to Crimson. They were not impressed at all. They went to Carmina and could not match a belt to the shoes I bought, but Carmina will repair their squeak. I will call on Monday to see if the belt can be custom-made.

Does anyone else have suggestions of hidden gems that my parents could visit?

An oft mentioned and obvious LL favourite is Le Grand Véfour (17, rue de Beaujolais / Tel.: : + 33 (0)1 42 96 56 27). I strongly suggest calling ahead and would probably lean on the concierge. Bonne chance. JAS

I like the Lutetia and have stayed there my last two visits to Paris.

Some good restaurants that are not so well known are l'Alsaco, Au Bonne Auceil and Restaurant Christine. The first is pretty gritty, but has excellent Alsatian food, the second is a lovely place near the Eiffel Tower and the third is a favorite of my wife's relatively close to the Lutetia. For grand dining, my current favorite is l'Astrance, but good luck getting a table.
