Source of Frogging for a Smoking Jacket

Does anyone know of a source where one can buy frogging of the sort used for smoking jackets or military uniforms?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Dear Sator,
To my knowledge, most of the good trimming merchants should sell it. I have always used that which comes from Weldons, though it is very much the classic smoking jacket frogging as opposed to military frogging. They also sell the toggles for this type of smoking jacket.

I once had a chinese vest made in the Philippines. The tailor made the frogs himself.

I can make a visit to MJ Trimming for you, Sator, if you like (the shop that runs the website MTM cited). It is not that far from me. My recollection is that the shop has a lot more than on the website. It is a big operation and generally pretty busy with tradespeople and home sewers, but if you tell me what you want, exactly, I can see what they have.

Thank you very much for your kind offer, Dopey! However, I will have to work out what I will exactly need with my tailor first. The tricky thing is double breasted frogging, which is the hardest sort to find. You also have to get the dimensions absolutely right. Very tricky,,,

Dear Sator,

Something that may make your search easier, is that the frogging for bespoke clothes should not be a pre-made article, it should be a frogging cord, which the tailor sews onto the velvet, in the style, determined by the garment type. Thus it is simply a matter of finding the correct frogging cord, and leaving the rest up to the tailor.

Yes, I figured that one out a long time ago. And there are a couple of tailors in town willing to do that, and who would charge many thousands for the privilege. The little secret project I have is something I am using one of the least expensive tailors in town for and he doesn't want to make his own frogging. So either I make it myself or source it myself.

In due course all shall be revealed. BTW this is not a garment I am going to wear to any event whatsoever (and hope that this hint doesn't let the cat out of the bag)
