I am currently a client of a large SR house but am considering trying either Maurice Sedwell or Dege.

I would be looking for a lean and fairly (but not excessively) structured coat, plenty of waist and also plenty of flair around the hips. I'm 5'11", relatively slim (in my late 30s and about 160lbs), and in the words of my current tailor have a figure which is "straight up and down".

Can members with experience of Sedwell or Dege comment on them?

(Note that I live in London so would attend SR for all fittings etc.)

Thanks in advance for members' assitance.

I have been a customer of Dege for a long time and like their cut very much. If you are in London and can get measured and fit there, I expect you would be very happy.

Sedwell is, as I understand it, pricier. He is also reputed to do a bit nicer sewing - the best in SR. His cut looks pretty nice to me, and while a lot of the detailing he appears to enjoy is too flashy for me, there is no reason why he wouldn't tone it down if that is what you wanted.

What you describe is actually pretty similar to what Dege does as a matter of routine.

What little I've seen of Sedwell's work (in his window, and in photos) is very fine but a little more off-center. Not quite Italian, but not bog-standard English either. It fits your general description but doesn't necessarily follow from it. You might like it; by reputation, he is very fine.
