Solid knit tie

Where can one find a solid dark knit tie that has a traditional V shaped bottom? You can find square bottomed knit ties everywhere. Is the Hermes heavy silk the best that I can hope for?

To the original poster: I don't mean to suggest that you don't have perfectly valid reasons for wanting a pointed end knit tie, as opposed to the more usual square end, I'm just curious as to what those reasons are.

I recall seeing one in an old James Bond movie, which I am not now remembering. I also saw what appeared to be one (although the photo was black and white) on Cary Grant on the cover of Alan Flusser's Dressing the Man. The Cary Grant photo does not show the bottom of the tie, but the tie looked a little too woven to be just a black grenadine. It is paired with a peak lapel glen plaid suit and looks stunning. I assumed that CG would not pair the suit with a square bottom tie. Incidentally, the collar pin looks really cool paired with the tie/suit/flower in the lapel combo too. I suppose I am interested in finding such a tie because it would be a really classy and different look. The square bottom just looks a little cheap to me.

It might be a bit pointy though. Seems to be 346, which I believe is made for their outlets.

I prefer this style for knit ties too, though they are hard to find. I don't have much of a reason other tha personal preference. Grenadines are not quite the same -- they look similar but they are not as stretchy or springy as a true knit and are usually lined while knits are not.

My fabvorite is about ten years old and bought from Banana Republic. It is made of thin horizontal stripes of alternating navy and bottle green that are the same tone and just a few shades apart -- the effect is of a blue/green solid. It also has a thin satin lining on the outside over the area that goes around the neck so that that part doesn't stretch when you are tying the tie.

I recall reading that there are only a couple of factories in Italy that make knits and I assume that Banana Republic simply specified a pointed end on theirs.
