What base colour would you recommend for a POW suiting cloth if the jacket needs to double up as an odd jacket?

Would you add a ticket pocket also?

Sounds like the 'best of both' tweed suiting could fit the bill nicely.

To make sure that it will look like an odd jacket when you need it to, I would go for either a ticket pocket or hacking pockets unless you would need it to serve as a serious business suit.

Yeah, black and white is probably the most versatile. Maybe it's just me, but once you add a colored overplaid it just looks like a suiting to me.

Perhaps someone would help me out. I thought the POW check had a specific color arrangement: red-brown check, white ground, slate gray overplaid. Isn't any deviation from that arrangement just a large Glen Plaid?

kolecho, black and white may be the most versatile, but I must say that I really like the color and pattern of the suit with the flower in the lapel in luk-cha's post. It's color is somber enough for a suit, but it's pattern is bold enough for an odd coat. Very nice.
