Well, they did - for the Terra Nova Expedition, Scott's expedtion to the South Pole. I picked it up somewhere, but can't find the source now. In any case, the photographer Herbert Ponting documented the expedition in 1912. His photos have been collected in "With Scott to the Pole", a book for dreamers and classic (sports) clothes aficionados.
Compared to Amundsen they conquered the Pole with style, but they lost the race to him. And they lost their life. A heroic failure.
