Gentlemen,
it is quite the pleasure to become a part of this collective. I have read the pages of thelondonlounge for quite some time, but have only recently decided to bite the bullet and apply for membership.
I have met some of you the weekend before last in New York at the Sartorial Excellence event organized by Alexander Kabbaz, and I look forward to resuming our conversations through this medium.
I look forward to participating in the engaging and erudite threads that until now, I have only been reading through.
Regards,
Dimitri

Welcome, fellow LLounger. So what happened at that Sartorial Excellence event? Any interesting thing? Who did you see there?
HappyStroller, Concordia, thank you for the warm welcome.
New York was beautiful - the weather perfect, the women lovely, the shoes... Oh, the shoes...
The event was also a lot of fun. I was actually one of the exhibitors present (Demeter - we were the leather artisans). I don't know if my words can do it justice, so I'll simply say that I can't wait until next year.

I'd looked forward to seeing your goods at the show. If only the torrential weather in Connecticut had not prevented my attendance!Demeter wrote:. . . . (Demeter - we were the leather artisans). . . .
Have you a website?

Yes, and what kind of leather products do you supply, if I may ask, Sir?
Might attend the next show, but would love to hear about the happenings at this year's show.

HappyStroller, I think the wrap-up and summary of the event on the AAAC web site gives a nice overview of the two days. I would definitely encourage you to attend next year.
Our web site is www.demeter.ca, though it is currently merely a temporary page while the site is in development.
We are basically a custom leather goods house stuck in the 1700s - we still make everything by hand. Correct me if I'm wrong to use the term 'bespoke' to describe it, but that's essentially it. Most of what we make includes belts, wallets, billfolds, etc., but orders range from cigar cases to horse harnesses.
I hope that I answered your question without getting into too much shameless self-promotion! Once the site is up you will see some photos of the above.
RWS - that's really a shame! Maybe next year, then. I got lucky, myself, coming into New York. Had I left a day later I wouldn't have made it due to flight cancellations across the board in Ottawa.
