Garment colours for week days

First of all, I would like to say that I have frequently came to this forum for personal enlightenment regarding the true paramounts of gentlemanly elegance and found invaluable knowledge from its members. I have now just joined and would very much like debating with you on the subjects covered by LL.

For starters, I would like to comment and ask if anyone has views or experiences in the matter of men's suit colours for particular week days. The reason I'm asking is that a few years ago I learned of the old tradition in my country's diplomatic service of wearing one's suits as follows: on Mondays, dark colours (I go for charcoal myself); on Tuesdays, grey tones; on Wednesdays, Prince of Wales patterns (since I don't own one myself, I go with pinstripes); on Thursdays, beige or tanned tones; and, on Fridays, the combination of blue blazers and grey/beige pants.

Does anyone know of a similar custom or tradition? What do you think of this particular distribution?

What was the point?

Unless one's days follow a precise pattern, dressing for the events on the schedule is probably more useful. If there is no business to conduct and it's sunny, wear the linen suit. If one has a meeting with the tax man, something conservative must be worn. Etc.

I suppose it is due to traditional ways setting in, such as the the concept, in the UK of yore, of keeping the browns for country use but not for urbane settings. Anyway, I was wondering if there are similar patterns elsewhere in the world. I can tell that old school diplomats here do seem to attach themselves to the blue blazer and grey/beige pants on Fridays (it is commonly referred to as the "skirt and blouse" ensemble).
