Quoting prices over the phone

l was always told that proper bespoke business' with integrity never quote their prices over the phone.

l rang a business (it wasn't the tailor l spoke to) and enquired about their bespoke shirts. They also quoted me a price (over the phone) when l asked. Should this raise alarm bells?

if you called up for the price why are you alarmed whenthey gave it to you - it kind of defeats the object of calling!

I think it's a smart move on their part. They would much rather tell you an established number and have you then decide whether or not it is worth their time and yours to stpo by and talk to them.
