I have a Paul Stuart suit made in Germany, believe it or not, that has this feature.

An Italian tailor will make tapering coat sleeves down to the wrist.

It is a mark of both skillful tailoring and beautiful aesthetics.

Notice in this fuzzy photo of the Genoa tailor Arcaio the tapering sleeves as well as unique coat sleeve button placement.

A beautiful ly executed tapered coat sleeve can maintain a constant proportion of shirt linen showing through a range of arm motion; but that is getting picky.
