The lenght of wool fiber?

The super number denotes the diameter of the individual wool fibers that are spun into yarns and then woven into cloth. Higher super numbers = lower diameters, and thus finer, more expensive wool.

Many assume that Super number can be taken to represent quality generally, but this is not so, as many factors make for good cloth. You will find that majority opinion on the LL holds that it's better to for cloth with no or low Super numbers but spun, woven and finished by top producers.
